Abu Dhabi crowned world’s safest city for 10th straight year
Smart systems and AI strengthen citywide safety networks in the UAE capital
ABU DHABI has been named the world’s safest city for the tenth consecutive year since 2017, according to the latest report by Numbeo, one of the world’s largest cost of living databases and a crowdsourced platform for quality of life statistics.
The emirate’s sustained top ranking highlights its success in ensuring security, stability and a high standard of living, reinforcing its position as a leading destination for residents, businesses and investors.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Saif bin Zaitoon Al Muhairi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, said the achievement is the result of “a wise leadership vision and the continued support of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, combined with an integrated institutional approach and the dedicated, round-the-clock efforts of Abu Dhabi Police personnel.”
He added that the success is bolstered by advanced proactive strategies, the smart use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence, and a robust partnership with the community, which acts as a first line of defence in protecting societal security and stability.

“The approach reflects a comprehensive framework focused on developing human capabilities, strengthening institutional partnerships, and empowering the community through awareness and participation,” Lt. Gen. Al Muhairi said. “It also includes sustained investment in advanced technologies and smart systems that support decision-making and enhance public safety, aligning with global best practices and achieving the highest levels of community reassurance.”
Major General Sheikh Mohammed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director General of Abu Dhabi Police, described the ranking as a testament to the emirate’s leadership vision, which prioritises human security as a cornerstone of sustainable development. He emphasised that this vision has created “a safe and attractive environment for living, working and investment,” and positioned Abu Dhabi as a global benchmark in urban security and quality of life.

Major General Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that the recognition also underscores Abu Dhabi Police’s commitment to ongoing innovation and development. “We continue moving confidently towards a safer and more sustainable future, with people at the heart of policies and projects, enhancing the confidence of residents and visitors in our advanced security systems and policing services,” he said.
